Franks’ 40-year military career included service in the U.S. Army Air Force, U.S. Air Force Reserve, and Army National Guard. He flew many medical evacuations and search and rescue missions. Richard Woodfin is a retired U.S. Forest Service researcher and has done fieldwork throughout the U.S. Woodfin is a member of a mounted search and rescue posse and has participated in many searches.
