Description

Senna-Lax (sennosides) is a natural stimulant laxative used to treat occasional constipation by prompting bowel muscles to contract. It is generally taken at bedtime, with effects typically occurring within 6 to 12 hours. Common side effects include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and urine discoloration.

Warnings and Precautions

• Short-Term Use: Do not use for more than 1 week unless directed by a doctor, as long-term use can lead to dependency and severe bowel issues.
• Do Not Use If: You have a bowel blockage, severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or rectal bleeding.
• Consult a Doctor:

Consult a doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have persistent changes in bowel habits lasting over two weeks.

Side Effects

• Common: Stomach pain, discomfort, cramps, nausea, and diarrhea.
• Unique: Temporary, harmless discoloration of urine (brown, red, or pink).
• Serious: Severe diarrhea, persistent pain, or signs of an allergic reaction (hives, breathing difficulties).

How to Use

• Take with a full glass of water, preferably at bedtime.
• Adult Dosage (8.6mg tablet): Usually 2 tablets once a day, with a maximum of 4 tablets twice a day.
• Children (6–11 years): Usually 1 tablet once a day, max 2 tablets twice a day.
• Note: Tablets should be swallowed whole; do not crush or chew.

Drug Interactions

• Take senna at least 2 hours apart from other medications to avoid interactions.
• Do not use in combination with other laxatives without medical advice.
